The culmination of the development of medieval European art is the restrained mystical gothic style, which replaced the luxuriant luxuries of the Romanesque style. The term appeared in sunny Italy in the Renaissance. So ironically, the Romans called the primitivism of the barbaric culture of the middle ages that have disappeared into oblivion. At first, this word was used in literature, when the author wanted with some degree of irony to indicate in the text distorted Latin. Later, this term began to call a certain architecture, which in a nutshell can be called frighteningly majestic.

It is not so easy to reproduce the Gothic style in modern homes, but some of its elements are often used to create projects of country houses.

Materials used

In the construction of the Gothic buildings and their decoration using expensive natural materials:

  • stone;
  • marble;
  • wood of oak, pine, spruce, walnut, cedar and juniper.

The decor of a Gothic house always implies the presence, therefore it is decorated with:

  • tiled mosaic;
  • multi-colored stained glass;
  • figured painted or gold-covered stucco;
  • leather-covered chests;
  • an abundance of bronze and metal hardware.

Saturated colors are inherent part of the gothic. At the heart of the color scheme of the Gothic room, as a rule, are used concentrated red, brown, yellow and blue tones. Stylistic accents are made with gold and silver. And for introducing contrasting elements into the interior, purple, ruby, green or blue-black are excellent.

The main attributes are a forged spiral staircase, a fireplace with a forged grille and colorful artistic stained glass windows. Images of Gothic rose, lily, trefoil, grape leaves, or crucifixes on stained glass or painted on a cloth, wood, or stone surface are characteristic features of Gothic.
