Tools required for painting: paint brush, paint roller, bucket, a piece of soft cloth.
Before painting a wooden floor, it is necessary to prepare its surface. It should be cleaned from grease, dirt and dust. This can be done with the help of a thorough wet cleaning. After that, you need to wait for the surface to dry out and remove any roughness from it. This can be done with fine grain sandpaper. Performing such procedures will improve the quality of work and at the same time reduce the consumption of varnish / paint.
At the moment there are 3 main ways with which you can paint the flooring. But when choosing any method you should remember that less than 2 coats of paint should not be applied.
In the first method, the wooden structure should be initially coated with linseed oil or any other primer. After that, the applied material is left to dry, which lasts 3-4 days. Then, when the drying oil is dry, you can apply the first coat of paint, which is left for 24 hours to dry. Next you need to apply the second layer. Drying time will be 2-3 days. After this period, you can begin the operation of floors.
When choosing the second method, preliminary surface preparation is carried out in the same way as in the first case, using a drying oil. The next step is to smooth out various cracks, chips and other defects using an oil-based putty, which should be matched to the color of the paint used.
One day after the complete drying of the putty, the boards are polished with a fine-grained pelt and a layer of primer is applied. Such a procedure should be performed until a smooth and smooth surface is obtained. Only after that you can proceed to the painting work.
The wooden floor must be covered with linseed oil or any other primer.
The third method, which is used for painting, is the most difficult and time consuming. It can be done in 2 variants. In the first embodiment, floorboards are covered with soil, dried and puttied with several layers. In this case, each new layer must be cleaned with sandpaper. After a fairly flat surface is reached, proceed to staining. In this case, it is necessary to apply 3 layers of paint and varnish composition.
In the second variant, after performing the priming works, a masked putty is laid out on the surface of the boards, in which gauze is embedded. Gauze fabric needs to be pulled tight. After this layer dries, it is necessary to impose on it another layer of putty, which must be carefully polished. The final stage will be the application of paintwork material. It must be painted in 3 layers.
When choosing any painting method, you need to follow a number of simple measures that will help improve the quality of work. These measures include the need for thorough mixing of paint / varnish. This will help achieve a uniform composition and avoid the appearance of stains. The applied paint must be carefully shaded and applied along the boards so that it lays down in a thin even layer. This will avoid getting bubbles that will lead to quick chipping.
Upon completion of the work, the floor should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and a soft cloth. This will give it a gloss and remove the oily consistency of the composition.
The painted surface of a wooden floor is considered a good and reliable coating in any room: it will allow for a long time to maintain a beautiful and aesthetic appearance, while having good protective properties.
