Do-it-yourself pumping station installation

The supply of irrigation and drinking water to suburban households is traditionally considered one of the most important tasks in creating a full-fledged life support system for them. In preparing the water supply system at home, not only the average daily water requirement of your farm, but also the maximum developed pressure should be taken into account. With a low water pressure in the water supply system, it becomes necessary to use special pumping equipment, which allows to raise the pressure to the required level.

That is why the installation of a pumping station with your own hands seems to be a very important task, the successful solution of which will allow you to establish an uninterrupted water supply in your farm.

Do-it-yourself pumping station installation The principle of connection

The list of tasks that can be solved with the help of household pumping stations includes as a rule, the following items:

  • clean drinking water supply;
  • providing irrigation operations;
  • hot water supply and heating;
  • pure household needs.

That is why, at the design stage of the water supply system, it is necessary to determine the purpose for which the pumping station will be used and, on this basis, to calculate its design capacity.

Factors affecting the choice of station

Selection one or another type of equipment in most cases depends on the following factors:

  • type of water supply;
  • operating modes of pumping equipment;
  • station location;
  • consumption volumes.

First of all, the operating parameters of any pumping station depend on the water source you use. At the same time the choice of options is not so great (well, well or centralized water supply). As for the mode of its operation, then there are two options: manual or automatic control of the equipment.

In addition, when ordering a particular station model, one should proceed from the required capacity of the unit, which ensures the transfer of a given volume of water for a certain period of time. (It was established that the average daily consumption of water consumed in his own country house is about 200 - 250 liters per hour).

Your equipment can be placed either in a separate caisson, or in a special room (heated basement). The second of these options looks more preferable, but when using it, reliable equipment protection against emergency rise of groundwater should be provided. To fulfill this condition, it is quite sufficient to locate the pump station at a certain distance from the floor (on a special stand, for example).

Before inserting the pump station into the existing pipeline, you should prepare a wiring diagram of the connected equipment, which should indicate the locations of the main components of the system (storage tank, pump, filter, etc.).

Installation and Connection Procedure

Connection Procedure pumping station to the supply system of the country economy will be considered on the example of centralized water supply. It is assumed that the station, designed for consumption of about 200 liters per hour, will be installed in the basement. The sequence of operations carried out in this way is as follows:

  • Do-it-yourself pumping station installation The pump station in the system first of all dismantles a part of the water supply system at the site of the intended inset of the pump station ;
  • after that the supply pipe is connected to the accumulator tank flange;
  • the fine water filter is docked to the drive outlet;
  • and, finally, the pump itself is connected to the purification filter; which is loaded on the pipeline leading directly to consumers.

The inclusion of a special filter element in the water supply chain is caused by the need to protect the working mechanism of the pump from impurities suspended in water, which can significantly reduce the service life of the equipment. In the simplest circuit design, such a filter is installed on the suction inlet of the pumping station.

On the other hand, one cannot ignore the fact that installing a filter can lead to certain negative consequences. The fact is that when a similar element is installed in a pipe chain, a link appears that creates some resistance to the flow of water, which leads to a decrease in its pressure in the system and, as a result, to a decrease in pressure. The only way out of this situation is to periodically clean the filter element from dirt.

In conclusion, we note that if you decide to install a pumping station with your own hands, you will be able to save some of the funds spent on the installation of pumping equipment.
