As is known from history, the beginning of the 20th century was a time of progressive revolutionary changes both in science and technology, and in politics, economics, and the consciousness of individuals and society as a whole. Not surprisingly, in such an alarming era of progressive change, a new avant-garde lifestyle emerged, which was able to accurately reflect the protest moods of that time.

The word "Avant-garde" consists of two parts. Translated from French, it literally means: "avant" - "ahead", "gard" - "a small detachment, moving forward to protect the main army from an unwanted enemy attack." Summing up, we can say that the avant-garde movement in world culture, art and architecture arose due to the desire of society to reassess outdated values ​​in order to eliminate the accumulated fatigue from everything that had been done. Thus, in the interiors of houses, a bright and bold style, called avant-garde, replaced the exquisite and expensive classics.

For all my rebelliousness, an attempt to oust the classic avant-garde style in the interior does not involve excessive enthusiasm for elaborate, unusual details from a fantastic future. This design direction is peculiar:

• the use of any modern building materials (decorative plaster, glass wall covering, metallized wallpaper, the latest collections of paints, laminated boards) during interior design;
• any experiments are also acceptable with shapes and color based on contrasts - the ability to combine the incompatible is welcomed;
• the presence in the interior of a suspended ceiling;
• using only modern textiles;
• the presence of room furniture of any form: from etc angular with clear contours to rounded or arbitrary;
• a combination of several colors in the same room;
• selection of curtains and upholstered furniture, taking into account the color contrasts of the ceiling and walls, which were previously preferred.

Only in case of a successful combination of saturated contrast colors the interior of the room acquires the desired expression and dynamics. For the avant-garde direction, colors are preferred:

• pure white;
• bright red;
• coal black;
• mimic yellow;
• dark green.

In an avant-garde design, the most important thing is contrasts! But here it is important not to overdo it, because with all its unusualness and brightness, the created interior should be cozy and comfortable enough for the owners of the dwelling.

For an avant-garde interior, undoubtedly, modern mirror wardrobes, LCD or plasma TVs, computers and high-quality, strict forms of furniture made of glass and metal with high functionality are suitable.

When choosing curtain fabrics, preference should be given to the original bright colors, which will be able to contrast well against the background color of the walls. Curtains should not be the usual, ordinary design of windows, which is observed in almost every home. It is desirable to give the curtains some unusual shapes, tailored to them in a special original way.

In addition to the natural room lighting, small light bulbs that are embedded in the niches of the suspended ceiling are perfect. Also in the room can accommodate several additional lamps in the form of sconces, floor lamps or portable table lamps. Artificial light should not be bright, beating on the eyes.

It is important that the furniture, for example, is red in no way installed against the red wall. It will be much more interesting to look at a red chair against a background of, say, a blue wall, and a chair of a blue color against a wall of red color.

In addition to the rule of contrast, there is another important rule - this is characteristic of avant-garde style "emptiness".

There should be little furniture and objects in the room, but, on the contrary, plenty of air and light.
